A Few Pictures From Art...

Kindergarten's Mouse Paint

Kindergarten have been learning about primary colors (red, yellow, and blue) and how to use those colors to create other colors (green, purple, and orange).   We read the story, Mouse Paint, by Ellen Walsh, and then created their own mice.  They were given the colors redyellow, and blue; they had to make the  colors greenpurple, and orange.

First Grade Kandinsky Paintings

First grade reviewed color mixing, inspired by the work of Wassliy Kandinsky.

Second Grade Complementary Cats

Second grade after reviewing color mixing, learned about complementary colors, and how to find them on the color wheel.

Third Grade Fall Leaves

Third grade has been working hard on this project.  First, learning how to draw leaves larger than life.  They drew three versions of the same leaf.  They replicated the original colors on the smallest leaf, inverted (complementary colors) on the second leaf, and the third leaf was their choice of colors, or left as they were.

Fourth Grade Tints and Shades

Fourth grade has been learning about the difference between tints and shades, and how to create them.

First Post!

Hello All,

Welcome to the West Rutland K-4 art site.  All of the art students are finishing up their first projects; all based on color.  Once they are done I will be adding photos of student work to the blog, and explanations of the work they have been doing.  Feel free to contact me with any questions about your students work, or about art class here at WRS.
